Medicare has specific enrollment windows. Missing them can result in late-enrollment penalties or gaps in coverage.
A 7-month window that begins 3 months before your 65th birthday month, includes your birthday month, and ends 3 months after. This is your first opportunity to sign up.
Runs October 15 – December 7 each year. During this time you can join, switch, or drop a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan. Coverage begins January 1.
Triggered by qualifying life events such as losing employer coverage, moving to a new service area, or qualifying for Extra Help. Allows enrollment outside standard windows.
